Privacy Policy for the GIZ–Malawi Civil Service eLearning Platform

This Privacy Policy outlines how the GIZ-supported Elearning Platform for Malawian Civil Servants ("the Platform") collects, uses, and protects your personal information. 1. Information We Collect

To provide you with access to our elearning services, we collect the following types of information:

  • Personal Identification Information:This includes your full name, official government email address, department/ministry, job title, and employee ID number (where applicable). This information is necessary to verify your status as a civil servant and to personalize your learning experience.
  • Usage Data: We automatically collect data on how you interact with the Platform. This includes course progress, modules completed, assessment scores, log-in times, and the content you view. This data helps us improve the platform's functionality and content.
  • Technical Data: We may collect non-identifiable information about the device you use to access the Platform, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, and unique device identifiers. This information is used for platform security and to ensure compatibility.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the service:

    This includes creating and managing your user account, delivering course content, and tracking your progress and completion.

  • To verify your identity

    We use your personal information to confirm your eligibility as a Malawian civil servant

  • To issue certifications:

    Your name and completion data are used to generate and issue recognized certificates upon the successful completion of courses.

  • To improve our services:

    We use anonymized and aggregated usage data to analyze trends, understand learning patterns, and enhance the quality and relevance of our course content.

  • For communication

    We may use your email address to send you important updates, notifications about new courses, or information about your account.

  • For reporting:

    We provide anonymized and aggregated reports on platform usage and learning outcomes to GIZ and the Government of Malawi to measure the impact of the initiative. These reports do not contain any personally identifiable information.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Storage Location: Your personal data is stored on secure servers located within a region that adheres to international data protection standards.
  • Security Measures:We implement robust security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes using encryption, secure access controls, and regular security audits.
